Essential fatty acids, such as omega-3 and omega-6, cannot be produced by the body and must be provided in the diet. Omega-3 fatty acids are generally viewed as precursors to anti-inflammatory compounds, while Omega-6 fatty acids are utilized in pro-inflammatory products. While there is a need for both types of fatty acids for a healthy physiological response, certain feed stuffs can provide more omega-6 than omega-3, upsetting the balance needed for normal body function.
Hygain® Performa 3® is a palatable custom blend of four powerful sources of essential fatty acids that can help balance the omegas in your horse’s diet.
Flaxseed Oil: A rich source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and a good source of fat
Canola Oil: Contains oleic acid, which supports omega-3 and omega-6 utilization
Fish Oil: Contains two essential fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)
Garlic: A palatable source of assorted essential fatty acids

Performa-3 can be fed in conjunction with other oils.
Start feeding at ⅛ of a cup, and increase gradually over 10-14 days to levels recommended below.
Ponies: ¼-½ cup per day
Mature Horses: ½-¾ cup per day
Racing and Performance Horses: ¼-½ cup per day
Breeding Stallions: ½-¾ cup per day

Regrettably, Hygain has made the difficult decision to stop supplying the US market and to close our US entity.
